Elsa Cayat was a French psychoanalyst who made significant contributions to the field of psychology. Born in 1960, she pursued a career in psychiatry and psychoanalysis, establishing herself as a prominent figure in her profession. In addition to her work in psychology, Cayat was also a columnist for the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris, France, showcasing her diverse interests and talents.
Tragically, Cayat's life was cut short in 2015 when she became a victim of the Charlie Hebdo shooting. She was one of 12 people killed in the attack, which included seven journalists, a maintenance worker, a visitor, and two police officers. Cayat was the only female employee of Charlie Hebdo to lose her life in the tragedy, and one of two Jewish victims, along with Georges Wolinski. Her death was a devastating loss to her family, friends, and colleagues, and she is remembered for her contributions to the fields of psychology and journalism.
