Bruno Rossi

Bruno Rossi was a renowned Italian-American experimental physicist, born in 1905, who left a lasting impact on the field of astronomy. His academic journey began at the University of Bologna, where he graduated in 1927. It was during this period that he developed a keen interest in cosmic rays, which would become a focal point of his research. Rossi's work in this area led to significant contributions to the understanding of particle physics and the behavior of cosmic rays.

Rossi's innovative approach to research is exemplified by his invention of an improved electronic coincidence circuit, a tool that enabled him to study cosmic rays with greater precision. In pursuit of more accurate data, he traveled to Eritrea to conduct experiments, which yielded notable results. His findings showed a significant disparity in cosmic ray intensity between the Western and Eastern directions, with the West exhibiting a substantially larger intensity.
