Samuel Reshevsky

Šachista a šachový velmistr židovského původu. Narodil se v Polsku, od roku 1920 žil v USA. Šachy profesionálně nehrál, vystudoval účetnictví a jako účetní pracoval.

Samuel Reshevsky was a renowned Polish-American chess grandmaster, born in 1911. He initially gained recognition as a Polish chess prodigy before establishing himself as a prominent figure in American chess. Reshevsky's career spanned several decades, during which he emerged as a strong contender for the World Chess Championship, maintaining his position from the mid-1930s to the late 1960s.

Throughout his illustrious career, Reshevsky achieved numerous notable successes. He secured third place in the 1948 World Chess Championship tournament and tied for second in the 1953 Candidates tournament. His candidacy for the World Chess Championship continued until 1968, demonstrating his enduring presence in the chess world. Additionally, Reshevsky holds the distinction of being an eight-time winner of the US Chess Championship, a record he shares with the legendary Bobby Fischer. He passed away in 1992, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most accomplished chess players of his time.
