Věra Kohnová
židovská dívka, nadaná žačka, deportovaná s rodinou nejprve v lednu 1942 z Plzně do koncentračního tábora Terezín a v březnu 1942 do polského koncentračního tábora Izbica
Věra Kohnová was a Jewish girl who lived in Plzeň and experienced the tumultuous events of World War II firsthand. In January 1942, she and her family were deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp, and shortly after, in March 1942, they were sent to the Izbica Ghetto in Poland. This marked a tragic turn in her young life, ultimately leading to her becoming one of the countless child victims of the Holocaust.
Věra Kohnová's legacy lives on through her diary, which she kept from August 1941 to January 1942. The diary chronicles her observations of the Jewish community in Plzeň during the last months of their life in the city. Her writing provides a unique and poignant perspective on this period, as seen through the eyes of a child. The similarities between her story and that of Anne Frank, another young diarist, have led to comparisons between the two. Věra's diary remains a powerful and moving account of her experiences, serving as a testament to her life and the lives of those affected by the Holocaust.
