Yisrael Ariel is a prominent Israeli rabbi, born in 1939. He has played a significant role in the religious landscape of Israel, particularly during the country's control of the Sinai Peninsula. Notably, Rabbi Ariel served as the chief rabbi of Yamit, an Israeli settlement in the Sinai that was eventually evacuated.

Rabbi Ariel is also the founder of the Temple Institute, an organization dedicated to Jewish heritage and tradition.
